For the purpose of this demo on how to use Zapier with Tangram we will do a very simple automation where we add users to a google sheet every time a new customer signs up for your Tangram app.

At A Glance

  1. Create a new Zap on Zapier named "Send new customers to Google Sheets"
  2. Paste the "Custom Webhook URL" provided by Zapier into the "Webhook URL" field in Tangram and fill out the other details + save
  3. Send test request data from Tangram to Zapier
  4. Follow rest of the required steps in Zapier to send the user data to the Google Sheet
  5. Test your Zap and turn it on

Step #1: Create A Zap

First you will need to create a free zapier account if you don't already have one. Next, click "Create Zap" and define the two apps you want to connect for your automation. In this example we want to connect Tangram to Google Sheets so we will select "Webhooks by Zapier" as our trigger app and "Google Sheets" as our action app. Select "Catch Hook" for the trigger event whenever you are working with Tangram Webhooks.

Step #2: Add the "Custom Webhook URL" from Zapier into Tangram's "Webhook URL" field

In a new tab, log in to your admin account on Tangram. Navigate to the admin Webhooks Editor Page ("Settings" > "Webhooks") and click "+ New Webhook"

Copy the Custom Webhook URL from Zapier to paste in Tangram
Name your new Webhook something clear like "New Customer Created"

Step #3: Send Test Data from Tangram to Zapier

Next you want to click the "Test Webhook" button in the Tangram Webhook Editor to send test data to Zapier.

Step #4: Pass the required fields/data from Tangram to Google Sheets

Now that you have passed some test data for the webhook you have created in Tangram you will use it to populate a row in Google Sheets. To do so, fill out any required fields in Zapier as shown below. Make sure to add column headers for each field you want to pass to google sheets in the sheet you are sending the Tangram data to.

Step #5: Test the Zap and Turn it On!

Once you have filled out the required fields in Zapier to define what data you want to pass from Tangram to Google Sheets, test the Zap and see if the test data successfully made it to your Google Sheet. If the test was successful turn the Zap on.

Congrats! The test data successfully made it to your Google Sheet 🎉
